“The Church is the sign of communion because her members, like branches, share the life of Christ, the true vine (cf. Jn 15:5). This communion, present in the Church and essential to her nature, must be made visible in concrete signs, such as communal prayer for one another.” cf: Ecclesia in America (33)
Join in this family of prayer for priests
Adopt-a-Priest invites people of all countries to support Catholic priests in prayer and sacrifice through spiritual adoption. This ministry is focused on assisting priests in their efforts toward unity by offering on their behalf a communion of prayer from within the family of the Church. Laity and religious participate in praying for priests through spiritual adoption while many priests themselves pledge a year of prayer for a brother-priest.
Anyone willing to pledge daily prayer for a priest may register to become a sponsor. Membership is on a year-to-year basis for all sponsors (registration link) and is renewable annually (renewal link).
Registered sponsors receive, via email, a “Spiritual Adoption Packet” which includes:
- Spiritual Adoption Certificate
- Welcome Letter explaining the details of the program
- Suggested Daily Prayer
- Subscription to the “Prayer of the Week” newsletter
